Well-known
In the spirit of DIY I thought I'd share the solution I discovered for the later (VT, VL, VI-L, P, L1, 7) Canon LTM rangefinders' strap lugs being too far forward, causing the camera to tip backwards, especially when using lighter weight lenses.
BTW, I carry my cameras cross-chested and often shoot from the hip...so this was driving me bonkers!
I tried making/or modifying half cases, grips, etc.--got frustrated nearly to the point of hacking the top plate to add a third lug (while silently cursing the old Canon designers for their 'blunder' in an otherwise beautifully executed design:bang🙂
But I didn't want to alter the camera and I kept thinking about that lovely PC flash contact bayonet.
Simple solution finally dawned on me to make this relatively simple strap lug out of flat brass stock. With an old drill, pliers, files, and a lot of trial and error--voila. No screwing up the camera, no blocking the winding/rewinding levers, no loss of flash contact, and best of all, not adding a bunch of weight.
Would love to hear what you other Canon RF guys think!
