I placed a brand new tube of liquid adhesive on my Nikon SB-30 flash unit for awhile as I was packing for my flight on tuesday. It turned out that the tube was leaking. I managed to tear it off the flash unit without any major cosmetic or structural damage, but the battery compartment is now glued shut.
Would anyone happen to know a suitable solvent I could use to dissolve the adhesive? It's Alteco 110, if that helps. The 'Caution' notice on the box recommends using 'nail polish' if one's fingers should becomer stuck but I assume this is a typographical error and they mean 'nail polish remover'. Would this be suitable?
Thank you.

be careful to apply anything evenly and sparingly, but try paint thinner or lighter fluid maybe.... dont splash it on, just apply little and often.
Good luck!!

If the battery compartment door is plastic, any solvent (e.g. acetone) that would dissolve the glue probably would dissolve the plastic as well.
Would it work to cut carefully through the glue area with a hobby knife? That might be safer, if practical.

You are right, they have to mean nail polish remover, normaly based on acetone. And if your superglue is based on cyanoacrylat that is the only solvent. As I don't know the composition of the plastics there is no 100% guarantee but you should be on the safe side if you handle it carefully, use a cotton-swab as applicator and do one part at a time until you are sure the plastics don't get mellow. Even then you only have to wait until the harden again (and don't put pressure on the plastics)
