I have had this since Tuesday so I'm still in the first blush of this new lens but here's just a few thoughts about this lens.
Handling on both my X-E2 and X-T1 are very well balanced and comfortable. The build quality is very fine.
Single point AF on my copy was fast, accurate, and silent. I can't even hear the servo move the elements. Snappy aperture changes, and manual focusing was smooth. Never once got lost while making changes on the fly. An all around wonderful experience using this lens.
It is sharp, and the distortion is well controlled by Fuji’s camera processor. Shooting wide open I've seen some chromatic aberration but it is easily corrected in LR, and of course corrected in-camera by stopping down.
If you already own the f1.4 and aren't trying for that really really sweet bokeh, and unless you need a smaller lens, faster AF, and Weather Resistance (WR) then sticking with what you have is probably the way to go.
If you're trying to choose between the two, this lens definitely holds its own. And at a retail cost of $450 kind of puts it over the top.
Personally I think this lens is a upgrade over the X100 series lens. I sold my f1.4 version for this and at this point I'm happy I did. It is definitely a keeper.
