Looks like you're getting the hang of it Joe and no need for lenghty explanations. Not bad for an old guy living in the frozen north. ;)

Normally I use the Level to get the darkest part of the photo into deep black. Then I use Curve to get the contrast/tonal value that suit my taste. I don't like using Contrast adjustment because it's lacking of fine tuning.

Good lesson. I have gotten pleanty of muddy scans dull scans, now I can go back and try again with a plan.

i have played with curves a little but i just can't get the hang of it. that needs to be my next phase of practice/learning.

this is what happens with all those cold nights and no one keep ya warm.

Joe: That's a lot of firsts, and I think that all things considered, you were pretty d#mn successful. The cool thing is, you've got some good negs and can continue to play with PS as well as print them optically.

I haven't been to Edmonchuk for a long, long time... the Oilers were in the WHA when I was there! Can we PUHLEEZE get our NHL fix(ed)?

Trius

and i haven't been to rochester since about 1970, i think!
i have to say i don't miss hockey, but then i grew up in new york and the yankees were it for me.

as for the negs, this photo shop thing is pretty cool. i may have to get myself a printer, a good one, and maybe just sell off the darkroom.
