Some gallery help please

Folks, I could use some help. (well I probably need LOTS of help but I really don't have time for electroshock😀 ) I am an absolute beginner in the uploading photo thing. I get my 35mm stuff put on CD when its processed(kodak photoCD), then open them in Corel photohouse and those scans are what I,ve been using to post the three pictures in my gallery. I noticed the sizes are all over the place and the quality is too.
Could some one give me some general tips about what size (picture dimension and file size) seems to work the best, where a good basic primer on-line is, and any other stuff I oughta know to help my photos look their best.

sounds like you need some software to resize your pics and do some post processing perhaps. there is much software to choose from and i am likely the least able person to talk with about it.
however, here is a site for some good and free software to start off with.

Does the Corel program you're using have a "resize" or "fix for web use" section? Check your manual, you might already have what you need.
If not I have used and would suggest Photoshop Elements. It has a lot of the features it's big brother CS has, but much cheaper and all a novice needs.
Then, if you want to expand, you're all set to step up to full Photoshop.

I just purchased a copy of Jasc Photo Album 5 ($29) as part of purchase to upgrade Jasc Paint Shop Pro. It has some simple editing tools and could help you with resizing and some minor adjustments. If you make a change to an image it will always clearly prompt you to think about saving a copy if you want to keep an original.

What it does well is to organize your photos.... I llike the way it shows a folder view and a calendar view. No matter where you have stuck photos in no matter how many folders, it gives you a chronological listing. It also allows you to set up and apply keywords to photos, you can then find photos from any folder any year or month into a subset of images based on the keywords you apply. It runs quickly. I had several thousand images mostly digital but lots of scans and I have about half keyworded.

I had been using Breeze Systems Breeze Browser, not the latest version and it does manythings well, but I never got the hang of keywording with it.
