Some GSN photos from China

Congratulations! Excellent pictures and I like the story about the digital cameras ;)

Who doesn't like a good story about heaps of heretical dslr's lying at the feet of a good old film range finder?

Avotius, I think that I have nothing else to add and together with this small unconvinience, you make me very optimisitc about the Electros, towards which I am plunging now.
Cheers,
Ruben

Avotius, how did the battery in the GSN handle the cold? From your excellent photos it appears to have coped very well.

not a cough from the camera or its batteries. I was using the yashica man adapter, actually had two, was holding one in my glove and one in the camera, after a while I would switch them out at my convenience just to be sure but I think it would have been fine without doing so.

Avotius, thanks for the inspiring photos. They are quite beautiful. I have been shooting about 80% digital the last couple of years and am now shifting back to about 60% film, perhaps more. Stories like yours help me fend off my poo-pooing associates. Additionally, I am preparing for a trip to Bejing in a month, and your images of China have charged up my anticipation. "The waiting is the hardest part."

Avotius, excellent photos !!! I've got a nice GTN and use it with a great pleasure. Did you used a polarization filter?

no polarizer, just the lens and a uv in front of it. Not even a hood, which I cant seem to find a good one that doesnt somehow block the lightmeter....

anyway the sky is so clean out there that polarizers are not nessesary, one or two of the shots has that half polarized look to them, its actually the lens not me using strange polarization.

These are beautiful images. I am inspired to travel to such a part of China if I ever travel there. You did well having a film camera with you for such areas of the world.

ps. I got a bunch of other photos from the trip but some were taken with my 20D not the rangefinder, I may post them for posterities sake though

As many other have said, these are great photos. Who knows if I will ever be able to see such places in my lifetime, but thank for sharing them with us. These are pretty cool.

Shows once again it's not the equipment, it's the photographer!

those are some of the best photos i have ever seen taken with a yashica...
awesome job...

thank you, thanks to all as well. I wouldnt say I am a good photographer, just handy with cameras. Not to toot my own horn but even though I am in art school, I have no art background, but I think its starting to change. My compositions are improving a lot, quite pleased with my recent set.

Great shots, and as the owner of two GSN's all I can say is that you are living testimony to the old saying, "it aint the arrow, its the indian!". Great images! Post more!

I think in future when I spot a question from someone deliberating over whether to buy an Electro .. spend money repairing one or keeping one as against selling it .. I'm going to refer them directly to this thread! :)
