Worth noting, the Mason Europeenne de la Photographie has an exhibit of what I would call "Straight On" street photography, I don't know how the photographer, Franceso Jodice, did it, but he's captured people walking toward the camera, unaware they are being shot, and then, in the exhibit, blown the photos up to life size.

In the same site, check out Angel Marcos shots of Cuba.

In North Vancouver, Presentation House, a funky old mansion now a gallery dedicated to photography, has a show of one of my favourites, Edward Burtynsky, whose huge photos of China, in particular, shock with their detail and scale. I really must get a book of his work!

Finally, this wet and grey Saturday morning in Vancouver (our first rain in many weeks), the great LA (well, Santa Monica) Peter Fetterman gallery is about to offer some prints of Sebastio Salgado's latest work, Genesis. I missed out on the more reasonably priced Henri Cartier Bresson prints when the Master was alive; buying art, and yes, photographic prints are art, is truly an investment that in some cases will outstrip real estate in rising value.
