some kiev 4am pics

so far no shots have been fired.
i do sometimes wonder just WHY i have this need to collect more cameras than i could possibly shoot in one session.

the canon p is my ideal camera right now, i like everything about it.
the 7 is a great back up as i can use the lovey 85 and the 135 w/o external finders.

this should be enough to keep a shooter happy, yrt the 'collector'/shooter in me seems to want more all of the time.
this needs to stop as it does nothing to make me happy and causes me worry at times.

maybe rover was right about selling off the extras to keep the decisions simple.

what i need is a warm day & good walk ( p in hand) to clear the cobwebs.

Here's a full-frame picture I took with my Kiev-4A and 53mm J-8. The film is Agfa APX-100 Pro developed in Rodinal 1:25.

It's not an easy picture to work with because of the extreme contrast between the shadows and the sunlight areas. I think the J-8 did quite well with a tough scene.

Looks very good, Walker; good tonal qualities with the bias toward shadow detail.

Hee hee, I sold Joe a Kiev. Now he's picking up a J-12. Next, it'll be a J-9. I'd say a Zorki was next, but I've already sold him on of those too, ostensibly 'for a friend'.

You're going to need an accessory finder for that J-12, though (if you don't already have one). The russian ones aren't bad.

now now ben, don't get too lightheaded here. lol!

i'm gonna try and fake it without an external finder. i don't like them much.
i'll just look thru the finder and think big.

Yep, Sockeyed, I think you're right! Joe, after you think big for a while I bet you'll look for one of these to buy... (With a CV 35mm finder already, I just had to get the "matching" finder for the J-12!)

Unfortunately, those Russian 35mm finders usually go for almost as much money as the lens itself...

Roman

ah!
yes a groaner for sure.
but i missed it completely, thanks for clearing that up for me.

feeling really dumb, joe walks away muttering, drinking his first coffee of the day...
