Some little rattling in all of my CV lenses..

Yes, strange that I didn't notice it before.. but, as I wrote in another thread, I dropped my Color Skopar 21 and people suggested me to shake it a bit in order to see whether something is moving inside it.

If I shake it in front of me, well.. no noise, I feel it is ok, but...
if I put it really near to my ear I can hear some rattling.

I took also the Skopar 35/2.5 and the Lanthar 90/3.5 and they do the same. 😱 this rattling totally disappear if I close down the diaphragm. 😕

Then I took my Jupiter 8, 12, 11, 9 in both Contax and screw mount and?
Nothing, I mean really nothing, no noise.

How is it possible? The Russian lenses are not famous for build quality and moreover they have 40+ years and no one knows how many bad drops.

Did I bought 3 CV lenses just to end-up with something built in a cheaper way than my cheap Russian stuff?

Please tell me that this little noise wide open is by design, that it's not an issue and that it does not mean low build quality..

Thanks,
Rob.

It's fairly normal for lenses to have a bit of looseness in the aperture, hence the rattle you hear in the CV lenses. As for the Russian lenses, they've had 40 years for the lubricant to thicken and to accumulate a bit of dirt in the aperture mechanism.
