I am new here so I guess i'll give you a little bit about myself as a photographer.
My name is John Battaglia. I am 19 years old and shoot all types of things. I shoot 35mm, medium format and large format when i can. I am a photo student in nyc but don't have my hopes up on becoming a successful photographer shooting street photography so much. I understand that shooting rangefinders and street photography is a damn hard thing to persue, but i don't care, it is my favorite kind of photography and shoot it on the side of school. No one really ever sees this work so i leave it to the internet to critique it, i print and develop all my own stuff in my spare time.

I shoot a beater m6 classic and a 35 ultron, i just got a fifty but its already in the shop getting repaired. I have been shooting a rangefinder about a year and shoot every so often when i have time.

here are some images from the past months i enjoy.

To me looks like you have the right attitude to take pictures! And you have some nice ones. Do you think it's easier for you to take pictures of people because you are young? Do you print & process in school?

Taking pictures of people isn't really the problem, i think street photographers need to think less of it, i shoot in east new york a bunch where things are pretty rough, i think it just comes down to how you present yourself as a photographer when shooting, i try to be quick and i pre focus and sunny 16 a lot. Sometimes i just put the headphones on and try not to worry about what people are thinking or saying when i shoot, take the picture and keep walking.

I print and process on the weekends at school. I mainly focus on keeping up with what is actually being sold and hired now, so most of the work i present in school is pretty strobey and commercial looking, i don't even like showing it or attaching my name to it..
