I'll bet Frenchflockie made him an offfer over that price. He's a shrewd buyer and sniped a poorly listed Canon VL a few weeks ago out from under my nose ;^(. Those 85's are cool to look at, and, (if you have the time to focus them close up and wide open with a .85 VF), great OOF areas. The focus throw is really long. A later 90 Cron or Hexanon is a much better lens. But still, that was a sweet deal anywhere near that price.

I figured that he is a dealer, I have run across him more than once, and noticed that he always zooms in on the really nice gear. I imagine that he emailed the seller and offered him $300 or so to end the auction early. Unfortunately, when it is offered again, it will sell for $800 or more.
