The picture looks as if it was made at a pro golf tournament; I've seen photographers at this type of event and they really do look about like that.

I'd imagine that the problem with this type of event is that you have to be prepared for close or distant and tele or wide pictures, plus bad weather, plus equipment failure... and you have to keep moving, not just stand along the sidelines or in a press box... and you can't really go back to the car if you need a spare, so you have to carry everything with you.

That's another reason I'm glad I don't do that kind of thing. R-D 1 and two lenses in a belt bag is how I like to work.

Not a joke. Although I haven't seen guys loaded like this in the flesh, I saw a similar shot at a website of sports photographers. One guy at the car races (Indy, perhaps) didn't look any lighter than this.

As jlw noted above, you just have to carry your gear, supplementary and ancillary stuff, back ups and everything with. And, if you're a freelancer, there's no way you can afford an assistant.

I won't complain about carrying my bag with my Leicas ever again...

I thought me carrying a Hasselblad, Canon 20D, Leica M6, and a Rolleiflex at one time (three bags) was too much and crazy enough. Perhaps, because I wasn't getting paid for taking the pictures.

I hope he has 100% coverage for chiropractor visits!

Looks like how some of us used to think we looked showing up at a crime scene; just less camera gear but lots of other stuff. 😀

I have a sinking feeling he is sporting a Depends as well.

At first I thought you were joking. Then I realized you might not be. Then I thought, "I really don't need to be thinking about this."
