Leica LTM Someone Needs to Buy This.....

Leica M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Crikey, it's like with those bubbas that turn vintage WW2 jeeps into monster trucks.
Looks real snazzy, but I can't help but feeling sorry for the IIIa.

So, who of us is going to rescue it? 😉

Lens and finder not included. Deal is off.

By the way, I wish sellers would stop putting lenses and accessories on the camera and then insert in the middle of a huge babble of 20 run-on sentences of ALL-CAPS text, "lens/accessories not included."

Where are the flame-throwers and the spoiler ???

😀

Lake pipes ?

A brief moment of serious observation... this is the first time I've actually examined a MOOLY, and I noticed that even though the motor case is marked "E. Leitz Wetzlar", on the bottom, the latch is marked "Open" and "Close", rather than "auf" / "zu" or both....

😕

I've often entertained the pipe-dream of buying rodded & chopped antique cars and (very publicly) restoring them to original, factory condition...

Wonder what kind of hew & cry that would elicit from the "Good Guys" ????
😎

Well, I guess I should go grab my "beater" 1934 Leica III, jump in my unrestored '41 De Soto jalopy, and go terrorize the community....

Cheers !

Hmmm I never have been a fan of the "short" housing "armed" MOOLY`s but one with STAMPED Asterisk 🙂 - is

*pretty rare in the collectors world*

I wish I had a more speedly access to records, then I could perhaps, shed more light on it`s history........cuz with a three digit number this makes this a very early possible - pre/production model MOOLY Late 1937/Early 1938.

It`a $1,000-$1,200 camera combo "as-is"
.................use the IIIa for parts and hook the MOOLY up to a "minty" 38' IIIb and make what I`ve always called
"A Heinrich Hoffmann Special"
- just add a "prewar" Elmar f3.5/35 wide with a correct Black FLQOO hood and a "Flat Nose" VIOOH finder you have a BEAUTIFUL package that would work as good as it looks too 😀

Hmmm I`d go after this if I already had the Mint IIIb.....I just don`t want to start collecting pre 1940 Leica stuff....uggh!!! I have enough 1940 to 1946 items now!!!!!! 🙄

Tom

ps: I`m still holding on to that dream of finding the ultimate Leica "paperweight" in some deceased Army Officer`s estate - a $200
mint boxed
MOOLY C K Grey there, ready to go on my 43'........that`s the only motor I think I want 😉
