I saw something tonite that made me appreciate Christmas again. For a while some things have been going in a less than optimal direction for me. My almost new electric bike decided to suddenly break, the upstairs neighbor has been noisy, and my management is dragging their feet on deciding whether I can buy out my lease and move to a top story apt or not. My health has seen some setbacks this year as well.
The girlfriend came over to spend Christmas Eve with me, and I had gone downstairs to purchase some vino at the store when I saw an ambulance pull up outside along with two fire trucks. My apt building is for seniors, and some of the people here are much older than me, and in worse health too. Seeing that ambulance downstairs, all I could think of was.....what a bummer, and on Christmas Eve too.
No matter what troubles we have, there are usually a lot of people in worse conditions than us. Just being able to go downstairs on my own and go to the corner store for wine on Christmas Eve is a huge gift.

Quite true!
It is not common for healthy people to realize that.
I really appreciate it!
I and my significant half have been repeatedly hospitalized recently (and I am alone today)
We are in constant fight to preserve a minimum efficiency (walking and being autonomous) and know by experience what loosing those functionalities means.
Merry Christmas to you and all RFFers
