Even off eBay! I bid the minimum $10 on this Minister III, and was the only bidder.
I didn't expect it to be so clean. The view/range finder is bright and clean, there is very little sign of wear on the body edges. The lens, shutter and aperature are like new, the light seals are good, and, the Selineium meter works accurately!
Somebody has done some work on it, as I can see slight tool marks on the rear lens retaining nut.
This will go in the bag with my nice GSN my son fixed up for me.
I just had to share my excitement!

Congrats!
All of those Yashicas are good performers optically and mechanically. Solid so as to survive many years as your´s did, and surprisingly, your meter is still alive....
Enjoy it!
Cheers and Merry Xmas!

9 times out of 10 On the BAY, descriptions like "very good" or "excellent"
or my favourite "Optically perfect" Usually means one of the following; Found in loft covered in 20 years of dust, cant be bothered to test with the correct battery, so assume it works, doesnt work, tried to fix it with hammer & chisel, scratches and chunks out everywhere but lens seems ok if you squint. Then, when you give negative feedback, you get a negative feedback for ratting on them.
Sorry its been a bad day,
Lets hope my Electro GX & Lynx 5000 that i won yesterday, have been nowhere near my friend in Hawaii`s VICE!!!

Yes, I get a chuckle out of some of those descriptions too. I'm always wary of the "I don't know anything about this..." statement. I've had a couple of bad experiences.Clark.EE said:9 times out of 10 On the BAY, descriptions like "very good" or "excellent"

"wonderful camera with minor repair done, otherwise very nice display item" - smashed lens barrel, gummed up shutter, untested meter
or
"everything seems to be working, though can not test as I don't have a film" - this is about 35mm camera.

Electro GX Lynx 5000
Just received these two evilbay purchases,
Electro GX
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=320197334348&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=011
Lynx 5000

Both in good condition! Aperture a little clunky on GX,
Both come with filters, the lynx has a very strange STAR filter that i have not come across before. Neither camear has been near a vice. Bonus

It is a crap shoot as NickTrop said. For Ten Dollars (shipping was more though) I got a Petri 7s with case that was in perfect condition. I'm not even sure it had been used more than a couple of times.

My favorite is the use of the word "Minty". While I might use it to describe the taste of some candy, I absolutely HATE to see it used to replace the word "Mint". If you can't use real words in your ad, I'll walk away.

I just won a "mint" Auto S2 for $20. No expectations for this one since the pictures in the ad were a little "soft focus" hehe
The Zorki 4 I got would have been "mint" if it wasn't shipped to me in a padded envelope!

Great!
And allways good to hear that old Yashicas find good homes....
I have a lot of Nikon stuff but I have had great fun with the basic Yashica fixed-lens cameras like the Electro 35 CC, GSN, GTN etc.

But you know, sometimes people who don' t know anything about cameras DO put up quality equipment for sale on EBay. They may have some excellent item, and don't know how to describe it or phtograph it or present it in a way that would command top dollar. I've taken a chances on these sort of auction twice, and been lucky twice (Voigtlander 6x9 folder and Mamiya 135EE fixed lens rangefinder, $10 each, both in excellent condition). So, don't underestimate the value of poor presentation. ;-)

my favorite is when they describe an item as mint, then show photographs of the camera blatantly out of the packaging or sometimes even a photograph of the camera in use.
