Got the new sonnar, impulse buy. :p I didn't have a 50, I'm on my way to HI next week, and I really, really missed that pre-war, uncoated sonnar 1.5 I tested out several months ago.

I like to go outside and take photos, attempting some wannabe-artistic merit. Anyway, I figured I'd be  and take it on with tri-x, shoot at 1000 or 1250 for diafine, for that old-time look. Well.. I just wasn't thinking, went to my usual "lens-test place" in dana point late afternoon, and noticed that it was 80F degrees outside, not a cloud in the sky, and I was wearing shorts. So much for shooting wide-open at iso 1250 :p So I changed to box speed for xtol 1:1, and the most open I could get was f4. The wannabe-artistic merit photos are here:

Since I ran out of things to shoot and had half a roll left.. I decided to try out some flowers and stuff at home *shrug* Autolevels in PS and resize were the only adjustments:

Are you unhappy with it? Are you considering sell it? Just joking! I like the images and can't see much not to like. Enjoy Hi! Could you try some Fuji Reala as 80asa. Color should zing!

Richard, I dunno whether I'm going to take color film. My last trip (elsewhere) resulted in some very strange color results -- I might be more comfortable leaving color to digital *shrug*

Trius :) I can't wait to get to some "real" wide open shots instead of silly sunflowers on a desk :p

Yes, Vlad, C-sonnar 50 ZM.

I will try a more contrasty film/development combo later -- except for Tux, these shots are somewhat in a low contrast environment. It was tough keeping my hand off the PS curves :p

Great shots, jano. The lens looks very good, but what do YOU think? Did you like it? How would you compare with the old Sonnar that you liked so much?
BTW, não sei o que é mistico em um bum bum flacido....

Sorry, Avelino, no idea what that says :p I have a portuguese acuiantance who translated some local music for me (this comes from mamonas assassinas), and I thought the phrase was just too funny :D

Anyway, I just finished a roll of foma 200 in rodinal with this lens. Discovered I really cannot hand-hold at 1/30, and not because I shake, but because I wave back & forth and fall in/out of focus. Pffft. These are the sharpest ones, all wide open (edit -- I think #2 was at f2 or 2.8, there's too much DOF there...).

Uhm... I like the lens :) :) :) :)

Hi Jano, sometime has passed but for yr information, the phrase that looks funny,

O meu bumbum era flácido
mas esse assunto é tão místico

and indeed is, translates to something like this:

my ass was flacid but this is such a mystical issue...

Are you enjoying the c-sonnar, now that some time has passed?
best
Paulo
