Sony A7 /A7r hand on video at TheCameraStoreTV

Lets be right - these trifling complaints about the shutter noise being "less than ideal for candid shots" - how many of us here have ever come to any grief over a shutters noise? And, people react after the noise, so the shot is never lost (unless you're a jelly back and delete it). Can we not just say "I like quieter shutters" and be done with it? Scraping the barrel a bit

I've gotten over it myself. Maybe if I photographed at the Opera a lot I'd care, but I don't.

probably not. The fujis still have shutter dials, aperture rings on the lenses, and a plethora of small high quality lenses in 14mm, 28mm, 35mm, 40mm 50mm, 85mm and 90mm. They also have the optical viewfinder.

I will be very curious to see how sony does lenses with this camera. Already the zeiss 35mm f2.8 looks optically superb but its large and expensive for a slow f2.8 aperture. Likewise you can buy 2 fuji 35mm f1.4s for the zeiss 55mm f1.8.

If you already invested in Fuji croppers glass - sure thing.
But Sony seems to support AF for my 50L and will take my 50mm LTM lenses, which belongs to FF, not the cropper.

To me shutter dial is not so important in AV mode, with manual aperture selection on the lens.
Exposure correction and ISO change are.

It is first not DSLR FF digital camera in reasonable price range, which supports glass I have.
Fuji doesn't have it, yet.

The A7 has potential. Lots of good stuff about it despite the negatives. I don't ascribe to the "FF is the Holy Grail" dogma, though, so at this time it's not really of any more than passing interest to me.

Yes +1

Definitely agree here. Apsc is the sweet spot and I really don't c a need to jump into ff... For me as I said on another thread if my 24f2.8, 35f2, 40f2 and 50f2 work great on this camera then I have some interest.. I am currently using these lenses on my Ricoh gxr and occasionally on my Fuji xp1.

I am glad they stopped using the dumb'd down Nex menu and switched to the RX one.

I gonna sit this out for awhile and c how things work out, especially to c how Fuji will react.

I don't c the design as pretty or ugly. However, the rx10, is on the ugly side to me and a complete disappointment. I was sooooo hoping for a apsc version of the rx1.

I think Sony finally turned to corner here and came up w/ something that on the surface looks like it could be a winner for them.

Now lets c those pics guys :D

But at $7000+ are they targeting the same buyer? Let's be real... if people never were going to pay the $7000, then it doesn't affect Leica at all. If anything, they may have new lens buyers.

Yeah... I tend to agree.. But new lens buyers... Maybe but I think the used Leica lens market just took a jump for sure. Consina/Voitglander lens business may pick back up on the new lens business.

used M8/M9 prices will take another dip from this.

Well, that would be good for the masses, but I really wonder if that's true? It's clear that the M8/M9/M9-P/MM/M-E bodies are the last "pure rangefinder" bodies in a digital idiom. For people who like the rangefinder view/focus, these cameras offer a pleasure that is almost assuredly going to remain unavailable anywhere else.

In terms of image-quality, the 18MP AA-fliterless CCD offers a look that I expect will hold its own for quite some time.

The M9 really is a digital classic.

They will have new lens buyers. Because frankly, in terms of pure performance, their lenses cannot be beat today. CV and Zeiss right in there---of course for M.

It won't hurt them because they can't reliably produce their camera as it is. So it's just going to mean the "i gotta have a red dot" or "gotta focus with RF" crowd will not be fighting so hard to find an M, since many will grab a Sony.......or two.

What this does is put the best part about Leica--their glass--into the hands of many more in all sorts of situations.

For me, it's almost surely a far superior camera to the new M, and hopefully, the M9 as well. I could care less about an RF. I care alot about glass and portablity.

And how my precious 28 (50 above) cron is going to rrrrrrip!

28cron on nex 5n

But i respect those who love their RF etc. Get the machine you will want to use.

Regarding native glass: there will be plenty, but this machine is clearly designed first and foremost to produce very sharp images with the best lenses available. Leica, zeiss, and CV RF glass. OK Canon and nikon RF too.

That's probably true. I'm the opposite. I can't go back to Leica lenses after I've found great lenses that focus closer than .7 meters. ;) I do miss that c-biogon though!

You are out of touch my friend. Look at that 50 cron on my bike. It's mounted on a close focus adapter.

Another thing this camera can do with Leica glass the M240 cannot: focus close.
