Sony a7/a7r with Zeiss SLR, Leica R, Zuiko, and other SLR lenses

Sug.. that's BRILLIANT... great idea!!! Wow this is just opening up a ton of possibilities for me..

Unless you're someone that's been waiting, and WAITING, for a full-frame body at a somewhat reasonable price on which one can mount just about any lens in the cabinet! A7: $1700 and can mount everything from rangefinder to SLR to MF lenses! Everything else? A lot more expensive and unable to mount nearly as many lenses. Thus, for many of us, the A7 'idea' is VERY attractive! :)

Agreed - I have found that this camera (a7 or a7r) is incredibly good as an M-Mount digital platform.. :)

Zeiss 21mm, 35mm pre-ASPH lux, 50mm pre-ASPH lux, 90mm pre-ASPH Cron and a CV 12mm that's an LTM with the LTM-M adapter :)

I would b very interested to know how you find the 12mm on the A7 - I have an A7r on order and keep reading that is bad to unusable. The samples I keep seeing are pretty hard to truly judge performance. I may be willing to go A7 if the super wides are significantly better on it.

My opinion right now: the CV 12 has no more smearing on A7r than A7.

it most likely has more colorshift. The centers will be much better on A7r.

CV 15 is not optimal on either, but many are using it.

zm 18 must be stopped down to bring in the landscape edges.

best RF 28 is Elmarit v3 on both cameras.

cv 35/1.4 is spectacular on A7r. I could not believe it.

When you actually do this, I think you'll feel how familiar this is, in a strange way, to darkroom printing process. Actually getting this setup is encouraging me to shoot more film as I just couldn't like the conventional scanning process.

My current setup is quite laid back with no precision work, but I'm kinda liking the fuzzy logic, each scan can be slightly different and unique like darkroom prints.

SOOC Jpeg - full size (at 6000x4000) is on my Flickr - there's a few others up there as I've been learning how to effectively use the Focus Peaking.

What I've noted so far is that there's not a lot of difference b/w the time it takes to use the RF vs the time it takes to use the EVF for focusing - the experience is completely different mind you and I would not try to say that the EVF can replace the RF (ovf) - it's just a different method of manual focusing.

Will try to get a bit more decent scan and post some 100% when I get time. I really need a better tripod. My aluminum/plastic travel tripod is just not stable enough for 1:1 "darkroom" macro shots...
 
I ordered an a7 and won't have it until next week. My plan is to use a 35mm Summicron V3 as my "normal" lens along with a 24mm Minolta Rokkor MC as my wide and a 58mm f1.2 Minolta Rokkor MC as my fast/portrait lens. From what I've seen, the Summicron should be great on the a7, but I haven't seen anything regarding old Minolta SLR lenses yet. Anyone have any ideas?
 
Well, i think i am finally ready to buy a digital camera an use with my legacy zuikos, contaxes, hexanons, nikkors and, of course, leica... But will wait a few months to see if there are any bugs to be fixed...

A 5Dii is a nice option for reflex lenses. I have yet to jump on the A7 wagon.
Still curious to see a few more images and try converting some RAW files plus, I like a reflex finder for long lenses :p
 
Today's LUG (Leica User's Group) digest included several B&W photos made with a Sony A7R camera and Leitz 19mm/2.8 Elmarit lens. Suffice to say, the combination worked flawlessly.
Don't take my word for it, join the LUG and see for yourself.

I am looking to get a short tele for my A7r. My day to day kit is Leica PC28 2.8, Leica 50 Summicron and have a Zeiss 15 2.8 ZF.2. Would like something small. Am bouncing around between CV75 1.8, Rokkor 90/4 and Leica TE 90 2.8. Anybody have any thoughts on these or anything else for that matter.

Oh God, I wish I'd never seen this image from an A7r with a wide angle lens.....tell me there's some problem with color shift and I can go to bed content tonight.

What do you think would happen with a Summicron 35 or a Voigtlander 15mm....?
