IHT ran this interesting article about some odd statistics concerning Sony.
We all know many companies make "halo products" that as an individual item actually cost them to make - such as the Lexus LFA. The idea being that the product brings enough attention to the company to warrant it's un-profitability. I had assumed the RX1 was going to be like that - barely if profitable at all, but paving the way for new cameras and markets that would justify the camera. I had not realized that the entire Sonly Electronics division was running at a loss, and had been for years!
