Sony is now #2 ahead of Nikon

If you like a someone's products what does it matter which place they're in?
I've shot Nikon for over 40 years and have never been disappointed by their products, so why would I care about Sony, or anyone else for that matter and where they rank against Nikon?

Ditto . . .

It's misleading information.
Because the unit sales volume of Sony in the ILC market is still significantly lower compared to Nikon.
Sony only has a small advantage currently in revenue, because of more expensive cameras.
But that will not last:
- Canon and Nikon will increase their camera lines also in the mirrorless area = less market share for Sony in the future
- the main reason for decreasing overall sales is market saturation, and that trend will increase.
Also the mirrorless market is decreasing because of the "last camera syndrome". How much Sony AIII users will upgrade to a AIV? Very little.
How much Fuji XT-3 users will upgrade to a XT-4 in the future? Very little.

2019 to date, Toyota Corolla takes top spot in world car sales, Ford F-series truck is now in number two spot. The Geely Boyou holds down the #70 spot, and Porsche is somewhere outside the top 100 in sales.

For someone interested in buying either a car or a camera, in terms of relevance to the buyer, this is pretty much like that.

Oh, yes it is.
