my franiec grip has arrived and been attached the camera.
it is as tiny as the rx100 but does improve the handling immensely.
i also put a piece of griptac on the thumb area and that helps also.
it's a primed photo machine now!

i'm not a street photographer, but i still found your comparison between the RX100 and GRDIV useful. thanks.

i dropped by a wolf photo store today to see if it would carry the rx100. then i noticed the guy with a huge rolling backpack thingy with the lid open talking to the shop people. he reaches into a compartment, pulls out an rx100, and says, "here's one!" turns out he's the sony rep.
i mauled the rx for 5 minutes or so. really nice feeling build, good weight for its size, and FAST focusing. i gotta say, this looks to be some more go-anywhere/any time cam. niiiice ...

by way of an update...
i am still very happy with the rx100...it's a great image maker.
i use a small terraclime 50 bag from lowepro that fits my iphone and the camera with room to spare and it fits over the head and shoulders like it's not there.
i'm still amazed at how easy the lcd is to see in daylight and i think this camera has sparked my interest in the rx1 more than the full frame aspect.
the only thing i still want to do is have some prints made from the rx100 files to see for myself what they look like. i noramlly only have small prints made so i am not anticipating being disappointed.

I would think you'd be able to make nice 24x36"prints with this camera at base ISO. It's 20mp and has decent dynamic range. I've made 20x30" prints with the X100 that look ok and that's almost half the MPs.
I think I may need to grab this camera. I've been waiting for a big sensor P&S for the jacket pocket and I was hoping for APS-C. But this shows significant improvements over the typical P&S sensors, so I'll probably bite after everything is announced at Photokina.

I really think I'm going to pull the trigger and buy one of these shortly, and put it to work alongside my Contax T3 for street/travel. The RX1 FF is a sexy machine, but I'm more interested in RX100-quality in a pocket...just melt into the crowd without even a bag. I don't mind that it has a bit of focal length range too with the small zoom.

Unless u need outrageously high iso, rx 100 will not disappoint u..
