Well, today I was rummaging around in one of my favourite shops and found my holy grail - a SOOGZ, which is a filter adapter which fits onto my Elmar 50 3.5 and gives me the ability to use 39 mm threaded filters. Or so I thought anyway.
Not so easy - the 39 mm Leitz filters are too small and doesn't thread on.
It definitely says "SOOGZ" but the thread seems to be something like 41 mm or something.
Was there ever a SOOGZ for anything else than 39 mm threads? Or is this a hack job cobbled together with parts from a SOOTF (which is the designation of the Summitar type adapter)?

I have a SOOTF, (which anyone is welcome to BTW). It takes 41mm filters no problem but I can't see how you could mis parts from it with a SOOGZ.

No, I can't figure this at all - unless someone has been industrious enough to rethread the original SOOGZ to the SOOTF specifications. The threads are fine, but markedly brassed, as if it was used very much (or machined, possibly). Strange indeed.
The halfways happy part of it, is that it at least works with my VOOLA, and I've got some Kenko 19 mm filters I can thread onto the Elmar.

I suspect someone had it machined to fit the 41mm Summarit filters..

The SOOGZ isn't the holy grail, the SNHOO is. That's the one that adapts the Summitar to use E39 filters. (Well, at least that's my opinion!) eBay price in the $75 to $100 range!
A36 filters are so common that the SOOGZ isn't attractive to me. The unique filter mount of the Summitar is a serious pain.

I never liked that mount.
