Soooo, $5.5K black for a black S2, and looks authentic per serial number research.

.... is this worth it?

It'll need a CLA - the slow speeds don't work. But, I can fix that.

There is nothing in the universe that has an intrinsic value against which all other things are measured. Something is worth only what someone is willing to pay for it. So by definition.....

As my dad always says .... its only worth what someone is will to pay for it.

In the current market, I'd say $5,500 is on the cheap side for an authentic black S2. They are certainly priced higher in Tokyo.

Go for it!
(but of course a standard S2 probably takes as good pictures as a black one and then you can save some money to spend on film and/or a lens.....)

For collector's value, probably. As a camera that might be put into use, does this camera offer any advantage over a much-less expensive chrome version? Probably not.

However, bragging rights mean a lot and might be worth a few extra thousand dollars.
