Soooo...Am I Infected?

I was going to purchase a Yashica Electro 35 CC, but the confirmation reply got stuck in my spam filter and I missed it.

So I bought a Zeiss Ikon and Jupiter-8 and -12. Great Camera!

Then, I found the email I missed earlier and bought the Yashica. Great Camera!

Then, I didn't like the Jupiter-12 and returned it and purchased a CV 40mm 1.4. Great lens!

Then, I purchased a Minolta Hi-Matic AF2. Meh..so so. Sending it to my Father to help rekindle his love of film from 40 years ago..

Now, I'm thinking the Vivitar 35ES is lookin reeeeely good.

I do know ONE thing however...NEVER EVER sell a Camera (Never sell a Ducati or a Connie) because you'll always regret it...and end up buying another one.

I think I'm doomed....

I've sold plenty of cameras and other photographic equipment without regret -- except one, when I sold an Olympus OM-4T a couple of years ago. I have since gotten a replacement at a lower price and in black, to boot, so I'm happy.

Adding more gear adds to a hobby but substracts from photography. If you buy, at least don't duplicate existing kits. If you have rangefinder, it's normal to buy SLR or compact camera. No point at duping fixed lens rangefinders or SLR's of same focal length and speed. I wish I could have realized this faster 😀

remember to shoot the gear, that gives a certain credibility but it wont cure the infection...

Soo..I figured it out. I was afraid to hurt my Zeiss Ikon 😀. I used the Yashica as an excuse to use it vs the ZI. The fact that it was a $1,000 camera and a $450 lens made me want to leave it at home. "She who must be obeyed" kept pointing out to me the illogic of spending so much on a great camera/lens combo, and then not using it. When she's right, she's right. And I HATE illogic 😉

So I've put the Yashica away after running a few dozen rolls through it (gotten my fix and my fun..and it IS fun), and am back to using the ZI. The larger finder, better advance, better lens and more professional feel are always apparent when you pick this thing up.

I hope I can fend off the next attack as cheaply 😉


But....ultimately.....Why is the cheaper camera more fun to shoot???!!!???? Or is it....

Never a truer word... with the possible exception of a Rebel XT, I can't think of a camera I've sold and not regretted it afterward...

Fell off the wagon. Just bought three cameras - Yashica GX, Oly PEN and Hexar AF.

The Vivitar ES is the same camera mechanically (and possibly optically) as the Konica Auto S3. Both were made by Cosina.

Camerapedia said the Minolta Hi-Matic 7sII is also the same camera.

In any case, it's a nice sturdy camera. It will need new foam seals, of course.
