Before I start, big thanks to Joe Mondello for buying me a year flickr pro account, thanks a lot Joe, I will put it to good use filling it with photos of China.

So I have been playing and really enjoying my Bessa R2a, it’s 100 times better then I was expecting. The Voigtlander lens I have has blown me away in every way. When I was researching interchangeable lens RF’s I heard everyone say the Voigtlander stuff is better then you would expect and it was hard for me to understand that but.... it is, im loving it.

So I im commercial photography class right now, so instead of pictures of coke bottles (like everyone else) I went and decided to be Mr. Pedantic thinking that I should be different then everyone else and cracked out the Bessa and the VC meter II I got today.

So here is what I came up with, basically for the assignment we had to have 4 different pictures but one of the picture things had to be variations on light with the same angle. Enjoy!

Can you say lens flare? I love this shot though…the light is great.

A little more basic light, less dramatic then the others I think.

Ok so if that was too weird for you, here are some shots that I have taken recently here in China with this kit (a couple shots with a Leitz 50mm 3.5 elmar red scale), minus the VCII meter since I got that today. All shot on XP2

That guy on the right there, he is one of my photography teachers and good friend, also he is addicted to tequila. Great guy he is. The guy on the left is my friend from inner Mongolia, great guy too.

Old lady opening her door in a tight little alley, as soon as the door opened a cat rushed passed my feet into the house.

These new old style houses from the last 20 or so years are pretty darn ugly and...well...almost all exactly the same. Cheap housing though means affordable for the masses, and that’s a good thing here.

This dog hangs around my house, its a nice dog that barks at everyone who walks by except me. Like have a guard sitting on my front door. Now if he would only move out of the way so I could go inside...

Reading on the bus always made me dizzy, taking photos on the bus did too turns out...

The alleys are a great multi purpose place here in Chongqing, everything can happen there, shops, laundry, cooking, bathing, fixing stuff, whatever, its great.

Grabbed that shot right as she walked into the frame, love those frozen moments in time.

Little kitty hanging out in the doorway next to a porters cargo, I don’t know what’s in the parcels, but looks great.

Great story teller you are. I forgot the R2A camera shots already. Hah.
Amazing b&w vision in these tight places.

Like many others here your series are a favourite of mine Avotis - what may be commonpaloce everyday (but beautifully photographed) scenes for you are a different fascinating worlds for many of us.

I have a close friend who spent a year in Chonging setting up a new mobile phone manufacturing plant - he'll be very interested in these images.

and the R2a product shots are tops as well. I'm intrigued - why do you have the VC meter on the R2a - does it allow a different way of working?
