What was the file extension you were trying to upload?
Should be something like .jpg, as in my_image_file.jpg.

The message is: "image type (6)". A .jpg is the standard file format. The forum software must think you are trying to upload a different kind of file.
(a) Upload a file you have already uploaded successfully again and see if you get the same message.
(b) If you get the message, then there's a glitch in the forum software and you need to email Jorge about the problem.
(c) If the file uploads successfully, there is a problem with the software you are using to create the .jpg file, and you need to try another application (presumably a graphics package).
Hope this helps.

You are not supposed/allowed to upload photos that are too good for this forum, since they will make everybody else feel depressed, useless and that is not good for a community
Well it could be that yor software did not use the "baseline" Jpeg compression scheme. The JPEG Standard includes over 20 different encoding schemes for compressed pictures, and most of them require the software company to pay fees for their use! The same is true of JPEG2000. Even the "Baseline" compression scheme is patented, but the committee negotiated to use the "baseline" algotithm royalty free. The other allowed schemes require fees.
If the Forum software cannot load your file, try reloading them into the original software package and use "baseline" Jpeg compression to store them. Better to find out now before you save and disseminate a lot of compressed images that few others can read.
Wow, if enlargers were invented today, some company would patent the process and require that we pay royalties to them every time we use it.

I just uploaded a photo without a problem. I scanned it this morning and using PS Elements compressed using "Save for the Web" as I always do.

Very strange. And Rover is not having a problem. Wonder if it has something to do with where you're uploading from?
Maybe a company that scans outgoing files and changes them in some way, as distinct from uploading from home...?

Is possible that there is a firewall to upload this type of files?
Time to time there are members who have problems uploading photos to the gallery. If it doesn't resolve itself you may want to send a PM to Jorge explaining the error message. Or, maybe Jorge will see this thread.

Yep, if you continue to have the problem email Jorge as I suggested above or send a PM as rover suggests.

Not all JPEG display programs support all 22 types of JPEG compression. Most freeware and shareware support 8-bit baseline compression only and do not pay the license fees for supporting the "fancier" types. I encountered this message once when using some fancy-schmancy more/better optimized technique. I pulled it up into the software and re-saved it using the baseline jpeg compression encoding, ir "for the web".

Jordi,
This has happened to me several times here. The only answer we have found is to re-register under a new account and new name (i.e. jordi 1, or something like that). Jorge might be able to move your old gallery over to your new name. Unfortunately this is the only way I have found to solve the glitch. BTW, I have had to do this 3 times, I use to be "thanz", "toddhanz" and now "Todd.Hanz". Good Luck!

Jordi,
Does the system allow you to edit the pictures that you have uploaded already? If you still have those images on file, does the system refuse to upload the same file now?

If you're talking about uploading photos in the gallery... try deleting all the cookies in your browser. If you still get the same message, it's time for an identity switch: re-register with a new name, usually a slight variation of the initial one (like Todd did), and you won't have a problem.
Now... I'll see to ask Jorge to transfer my first gallery to my second name. That'd be nice, but would I lose the comments I earned?
Jorge, are you reading this one? I hope so...
