Ok so i want to put an image up in a thread about panoramics, which by their nature need to be reasonably big, so I open a flicker account, and using it's 'share this photo' option, I'm given various url's to paste into the manage attachments box on here, but no matter which I use I get an incompatible file warning. Then I look for an answer in FAQ, nothing there, and every time I try searching for a similar post to this the search box tells me I'm not using enough key words even though I am [does it not like Safari, or am I just being an idiot], anyway must get to bed now, but if someone could kindly explain how to it would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps the answer could be added to the FAQ section as I would imagine it's fairly fundamental to most users here.

The trick is not obvious: don't use the dedicated insert-image button! All you need to do is to copy the BB code of the image you want (from Flickr's "share this" menu) and then paste it directly into the post on RFF.

you can use the insert image button:
flickr
1. choose a size for the image you want to post
2. right click and choose copy image address
rff
3. paste address in insert image pop up box

works for me on my Mac.

dont feel bad..it took me 6 months to figure it out...

i open the picture in the dedicated window in flikr the copy/past to the post here. Not sure it that is the "correct" way but it does work for me.

Thanks for the replies, this one's genius, why isn't this covered in the FAQ section? Think I'll post more frequently now I know this. Which thinking about it might be why it's not in FAQ.

At your flickr image:
Click on Share This
Click on Grab the HTML/BBCode
Click on ● BBCode
Right click on the code, choose Copy
In RFF, right click, and choose Paste
Hope that helps...

Another dumb question about linking. How do I post a link as many other RFF'rs have at the bottom of each post with just the word: Flickr
instead of showing the whole link?

Ok it really work and sorry about posting it here. I'm curious to find out : )

BTW this photo look really dirty perhaps I need to change my developer soon.

viewfinder-m2, here's what you need to do.

1) go your RFF control panel;
2) click on edit signature;
3) insert text (e.g. "my flickr");
4) highlight that text with the cursor;
5) click above on the insert text link (which looks like a lock);
6) a box will open, and you need to insert the http link;
7) move below on the control panel and you can preview it and then save it.
