...but in a different way. This is a wonderful video done by Chris Weeks about street photography. Some other photographers are featured such as Severin Koller (whom I greatly, greatly admire). He not only talks about the M9, but rangefinders in general. It's definitely worth a watch. It also makes me want to buy a 5D and start making some videos!

I once read something by Chris Weeks - 'The Purist's Guide to Street Photography' - and I found it incredibly pretentious if I'm honest. The point he seemed to be making was that (in his opinion) you couldn't be a good street photographer unless you had Leica M body, and some summilux lenses.
 
Yeah I read a thing by Chris Weeks and I couldn't get through it. Some of the pictures were alright but his writing was too pretentious for my liking

He goes into why he said those things in the past. There is some gear snobbery attached with Leicas, I am even victim of this! I love love love my leica! :p
 
Simon, do you know Severin in person? (I don't, but I like his street shots very much.) Quite cool to see guys younger than me who are pro already and can play with the great stuff... *envious* :angel:

Btw, it is quite cool to see how the people mostly don't react on them doing photos with that big beast of Eos 5d Mk II in the video mount and sweating operator behind the Leica M guys... :D:D
 
Thanks a lot for the link(s) !! I remember having read about Chris Weeks first here at RFF, I think it was a street-photography contest where you could win a camera co-sponsored by him.

His books about the topic (pdf) were well worth reading for me. Actually, only after reading these I got some idea what street-photography is really about.
 
That's so freakin' pretentious I can barely listen to it. To claim not to care and still make _such a big deal out of everything, Jesus.

I like the film. I'm glad I found it. I wish I could meet these guys in person and have a cup of coffee with them. So I could make up my mind if there is something to (dis)like about them.

Dismissing other peoples efforts, approaches, choices and styles because they do not match yours is sad.

There's a very interesting scene in it: When they walk past that Jesus actor guy the first time, you see the guy selling tshirts and other stuff.
And when they come back and show the Jesus guy again, the seller is arrested by the cops.... :cool:
