SOS: How to put a 40 back together again?

Filing down the flange on my CV 40/1.4 was easy as pie, but I got myself into deep $#@& by removing the flange in order to do it. Now I find I have absolutely no idea how to replace the flange. It ain't your simple straightforward screw on screw off sort of operation. 😱
