sound off...who still has an rd1?

yes from me too. it is such a nice camera to use, very natural and easy to use. it just keeps on going, and going. glad i have it. would i like to have an m8/9, of course. but in the meantime i'm happy to have the rd1.

Bought mine 2-1/2 years ago and it is still going strong. It gets used probably twice as much as any two of my film bodies. Today it is wearing the 50/1.1 Nokton.

Good to read this - just ordered mine and awaiting its arrival, along with a CV15 Heliar.

Not sure what the future holds for the Bessa R now. I've enjoyed using it since I bought it 3 months ago, but as for going back to film, now, at my age...

Not sure about the DSLR's either, though I think I'll need to keep at least one until I can get something with >10mp for my landscape prints.

Thought long and hard about an M8, but what I've seen here and elsewhere makes me think the R-D1 is a better bet.
Don't know if I'll ever be able to run to an M9, so hoping there may be an R-D2 or some such before too long!

I have an old R-D1 plus a more recent R-D1s bought as a backup but its sensor one sad day just "died": ok at iso 200 in good light, then an explosion of bandings and weird colours at all other iso! It's a real pity that control quality was so poor because handling and image processing are pretty good.
So it is R-D1 when fast lenses are needed and film MF the rest of the time.

I take mine to work every day, on the odd chance that there´s something to be taken picture of. I then take it out of the bag and put it on my desk. And I gaze at it several times a day. It´s not only a good tool, its a good looking tool.

I've been doing this same exact thing this week since it arrived over the weekend!

Still have mine...

Still have mine...

I bought mine new in 5/06 from Robert White in the UK. Never have had any problems. OE batteries are still strong too!. Actuations are at about 11K. Use it about 3x more than my M6/M2 just out of laziness....no developing, just plug and play. K
