Greetings from Spain, this is my first post, congratulations to all people and..... I... ask for help. I have received a fabulous Yashica Electro GSN. New battery and everything seems to work. But shooting in low light the camera began to make a "beep" that was "in crescendo" closes the shutter and silence ... What happens? Is this normal or simply one breakdown? Thanks in advance and pardon my bad English.

welcome rai, i cannot help with your problem but i will say that you have no need to ask for a pardon. Your english is just fine. Enjoy your time here.

oh , and have you heard the latest? - film is dead!

Maybe you are trying to shoot in low light with the apperture stopped down which gives a shutter speed that exceeds the camera's slowest speeds.
Have you tried to take a pic in low light with the aperture wide open?

Hi and thanks for the quick responses. True, giannakis, small aperture and low light...beeeeep. Try checking with the naked ear how many seconds...30 or more???? I was shocked to hear the beep. I thought the battery (6v) was very strong ... He is right, just do it with small apertures, it seems that it is normal to do that beeep. Tomorrow the test with film ... I'm excited ... and I'll tell you the results...

I can confirm that the squeaking noise with long shutter speeds is indeed normal for Electro 35 cameras. I remember well how I jumped as I heard it for the first time :)

Yep, absolutely normal!

Actually, it's a pretty cool little sound, isn't it? :D

Let's see your new digisnap do that!! :p

Yep ... I have an Electro GT that does the 'mouse fart' at slower shutter speeds also! :D

Hello. There are very nice and helpful people here, I think you will enjoy this forum. Just to confirm that my GSN also makes this sound. I presume it is related to the timing circuit, probably a capacitor charging or discharging.

Saludos, también desde España :)

Hi, this is fine ... take a walk this morning to GSN ... tomorrow it will develop ... work at night ... we'll see ... where you're going Javier? I near Valencia. greetings

I live in Vitoria. I bought my GSN second hand about 20 years ago. It is still one of my favorite 35 mm cameras. I think my sharper negatives come from her. Better, in my opinion than a pentax 50 1.7 I also own.

Greetings.

Javier
