Sources for Zeiss Ikon lenses?

We have a Leica/Nikon/Zeiss dealer just off I-95. I always take alternate routes. If I don't, my knees get weak if I go too close to the place. Drooling commences upon entering the parking lot. As I enter the tiny showroom, I get what must be a panic attack (not a GAS attack) and run for the exit. It is just too much to take in.

Wait wait... kshapero, where off of i-95? I'm in Savannah, GA and next time I'm down in Florida I would love to go visit a leica/zeiss/etc dealer!

Well, i stopped by and handled it, it is a fantastic machine, but i also stopped by another shop, Blue Moon, and they had a IIIf Leica (underpriced in my opinion) with a 5cm summitar so i ended up with that, and there goes my spending money for the year (until next tax refund season). i know, it's not nearly the same camera, but with baby number 5 on the way, i'll take what i can get and be happy with it! i had a friend show me the loading trick and he checked it out for me, it's in great shape (ok, slower speeds are sticky, but i expected that) now it's time to hit the streets!

Well, I wondered at the time if Cosina was threatened by Zeiss, and Cosina in turn threatened our buddy. But, speculation is kinda useless anyway.

That seems more credible than the story we were told. Judging by the close relationship between them, I assume that CQ gets their stock directly from Cosina & for whatever reason is/was not going to use another supplier. I would also assume that Zeiss didn't want their own subcontracter undercutting their prices.

There are others who carry both as well. The CQ niche seems to be in the grey market & therefore they seem to have no interest in the Zeiss line at the higher price. At least that's my simplistic view of it. There may be a deeper explanation.
