Soviet Art Tools?

Hi all - I have used Russian 35mm movie gear in the past and loved the Lomo lenses so it got me thinking - what Russian lenses would be worth trying on the RD1? I see on eBay there are (literally) thousands of screw mount lenses available, but I have no idea which ones are considered to be of a high quality. I'm specifically looking in the 20-50mm range, and preferably better than f2. Any suggestions would be great.

I bought a collapsible 50mm 3.5 that I paid 95 sents for (shipping came to 20$) only because I wanted to try a collapsible lens without spending too much. I have not had a chance to use it extensively, but am thinking to find out how to smear, or clear-glue, or something the edges to see if I can get the "holga" effect which I allways liked.
the price is worth the experimentation.

the choice of fsu lenses in ltm is not that big.

there is only one 35mm / 2.8 Jupiter 12
85/2.0 - Jupiter 9

50/2.0 - Jupiter 8

50/1.5 - Jupiter 3

there is also a 28mm/5.6 i think and a 20mm lens, forgot what they were called.

jbrough is talking about cine lenses, not rangefinder lense.

i don't know much about them, could you offer some links?

20/5.6 russar mp-20 with VC 21/4 seems too expensive, sellers try to elevate this lens to collectors prices ca 400 USD

28/6 orion-15

there was another 28 from fed factory I think it was 28/4.5 last one I saw was 200 USD

35/2.8 jupiter-12 good and cheap lens

50's cant remember every but I used 50/1.5 jupiter-3 nice, lightweight (maybe not very sharp wide open) but sold it to fund canon 50/1.2

85/2 jupiter have one but I can't collimate it.

there also is 100/3.5 from fed factory- I never used it

But I don't think you'll find anything matching konvas- lomo anamorphic lenses.

OT After USSR collapse most of brains behind those lenses moved to US and started to produce under HAWK brand.

Thanks to all - just to clarify it is rangefinder lenses I was asking about - it seems that the Jupiter 3 50/1.5 is a popular choice. Ebay ahoy!

oh, missunderstood. anyway, i highly recommend the jupiter 3, i used it for about a year and got wonderful images from it. i really like the look it gives in color, very gentle. mine broke and i never replaced it. if you get one off ebay you should factor in a cla into the costs, most of them have some small focusing issues and are stiff....
