Canon LTM speaking of 40mm filters...

Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Hi all,
I have just received another reply from SRB with reference to getting the glass only. They say "General filter CR39 optical resin filter discs will cost about £6.95 each. We would have to get prices for glass discs, but they would be much more expensive." I, therefore, think it is a non starter. By the time the frames came from China at abut £4 each, we are looking at nearly $20 for resin filters and "much more expensive" for glass. This puts it in the same league as getting B+W ones off the shelf. Oh well back to the drawing board. :(

Hi Frank,
It is a Walz R4 that came with the Canon 50/1.5 (now you know where it went ;) )

Hi Kim, I have a slim CANON UV-filter 40mm. What type is your orange for??

cheers, Frank

Hi Frank,
No problem. I can't tempt you with an Asahiflex Takumar 1:2.4 f58mm Y47 yellow can I?

are we still gonna try to fit the 40.5 into the 40mm ring?
the bdb ring i have unscrews easily and this could be a plan...

Hi Joe,
No problems. Can you measure the diameter of the existing glass so I send the right size?

actually there really is no need to send the glass, other than to verify.

i just measured the glass from the bdb 40mm filter i recently got.

the glass is exactly 37 mm wide.
the inside diameter of the ring, where the glass sits is 40 at it widest and 35 minimun
so in theory, glass the size of 36, 37, 38, 39 should fit easily.

can you measure the glass from a 40.5 filter?

I have a couple of lathes, and I could probably change any oversized 40.5mm to 40mm threads. Also might be interested in making a gel filter holder or oversized glass holder for your specific needs.

so, i can buy a few 40.5 filters and if i can take the glass out without damage then this ring would work.

too bad i have only the one. time to search out more bdb rings i think.
