Why not buy an M4 with the 35-50-90-135 framelines, easier rewinding, and easier loading? It has .72 magnification, just like the M2, and you can use a 135 if you absolutely must.

That site is in chinese !!! Does this magnifier fit the M6 classic? I don't use my tele-elmarit much because I have problems focusing it. But I have recently found out about the Leica 1.25x magnifier and want one.
Are they really so expensive ??? How much is 16,800 Yen ??

back to basics
Brett, I recently sold a M3 to Tom. I use a M2 myself because of the 35 framelines. In 50mm FOV I like to see a little around the edges.
What struck me about the M3 is it's increadibly bright finder. Certainly a little brighter than the M2. If you want to use goggles however, this advantage is gone. Then the image really darkens. For the rest, the cameras are very similar.
I personally don't like the big edges on the M3 front. The 'closed' counter of the M3 is absolutely nicer and better than the M2 dial, but taking the spool out to reset is a nuisance when using the quickload.
It's very personal. Good choice of going for an old Leica though!!

Well-known
My first M-series was an M3 and I had a 35mm Summicron with googles for it - and because of the googles my goal was a .72 finder which I got a short time later in an M2.
The googles make an awkward lens, both in handling and view, make a lens heavier then needed, and an odd size when off the camera to put somewhere.
If you plan to use the 35mm more than occasionally the in camera .72 finder is the best way to go. In fact I like the 50mm frame in the .72 finder better too, easier to see the whole frame at a glance, with the M3's .92 finder you really need to roam the outside of the 50mm frame to see what's there, but with the 90mm lens the M3 comes into its own.
