I wonder if any of you have ever thought of a special greeting form between analog photographers?
Yesterday I took some shots at a rallye event and a guy close to me had a Eos 33
- now something like a "greeting" would be cool - (maybe not exactly "west coast", but I think classic car drivers {at least in europe} show their thumbs up - a oldtimer greeting).
What do you think?

Sorta like dogs sniffing each others' butts?

When I see analog photographers, I beep my bulb horn, the one right over the kerosene headlights, and tip my tophat.

I forget who it was...maybe a few years ago on this forum, but a fellow had a bow (similar to the pink cancer bows and yellow bows) but it was done with a roll of film (smaller than 35mm). Would look good in some situations, even as an avatar.
I think a "thumbs-up" works for most everything.

We who drive old Vespas and old Land Rovers do greet each other when we meet. Or at least the few times I met other masochists on such vehicles, there was some sort of mutual, compassionate greeting

Hold up your right hand with the second and third fingers parted and say, "Live long and prosper."
Wait, that may already be taken.

Absolutely. It's known as the 'Defender wave'. (Series Land Rovers are accorded the same courtesy, of course.)

If anyone ever comes up with such a greeting it's more likely that people will take it as a greeting between fellow idiots.

This reminds me when I spotted a young lady among her friends sporting a black film Nikon (either FM or FM2) in a mall in Hong Kong. I told her "nice camera" and "I shoot film also" in English while holding up my OM-3. Her face light up, she told me that it's her dad's camera and for that brief moment, we bonded.
