Yesterday I bought the VC spirit level and the double-shoe adapter for my Bessa R3A.

It works just great, I can look through the viewfinder of the Skopar 25 or the Heliar 15 and the spirit level practically at the same time. Just a little glimpse to the left, move the bubble to the middle of the ring and the camera is perfectly level!

My old lady, the Leica M2, likes it too!

I went out recently with my Bessa-L with Double-Shoe, Spirit Level, and reg. 12mm CV viewfinder. I also added the Ball Grip, which I like to use in low-light shooting. Works well to 1/4" shutter speed.

You view the Spirit Level with your left eye, and the CV 12mm viewfinder with your right, at the same time.

This is going to take a bit of time to get used to it, but I am getting the hang of it ;P

I've always wanted to know, does this level also work for vertical shots? I've never seen one in the flesh, and the Camera Quest writeup doesn't say. Never used to worry about this until I got a 15mm Helliar.

Horizontal only, unfortunately. It isn't as convenient, but I carry a hardware store one and stick it on the camera when using it on a tripod.
Handheld, I mentally find something at eye level in the scene and make sure it is in the center of the frame when I shoot.

The Cosina Spirit Level is basically square, with a circular red dot in the center. You move the level around until you center the bubble in the center-circle. I was recently using this rig with the 12mm CV Reg Finder, and the Double-Shoe on the L. Adding a Ball Grip on the bottom, I found I can hand-hold to 1/4"

I found it tricky to center the bubble exactly. It's very sensitive. Now I have the hang of it😛
