I've seen the Oil from the helical creep in through the aperture mechanism and destroy that rear cemented pair. I made a Canon 50/1.2 out of two parts lenses, had to CUT the rear module out using a dremel. Broke three cutting blades. Lots of brass.
 
I have two of these beauties. Both have fogged on the element just aft of the aperture. Both had their helical lubrication turn to toffee within a month of each other. Wouldn't dream of selling either one.

I may also have hit gold with my example of the 50/1.2. Since DAG adjusted the elements, it is very sharp. I can shoot in scenes that may cause flare in somelenses, and I see no flare. In a recent thread with the lens, Gabriel MA commented on the lack of flare with my lens.

Could you please point me to that thread you are refering to about canon 50/1.2 ? I cant seem to find it.

Thanks - now that I looked at it - I remember that thread. I even have a couple of pics there too. I just like to see pics from this lens!

I had both of mine fixed at ESSEX. I don't know what kind of great they used. When the elements fogged - I took a deep breath - and fixed that myself. One one - I've done it twice.
 
Today I 've received first film shot with the cleaned lens. FEw pics if you don't mind.
