Ignore It (It'll go away)
I have this guilty pleasure. I really like sports photography. I even subscribe to Sports Illustrated, because...well, I like to look at the pictures. Two sports events took place today that I would have loved to have shot at:
(I'll delete the images in a bit, but wanted folks to see what I'm talking about. Follow the links for more images.)
Mavericks Surf Competition
image erased
NFL Football game in Green Bay Wisconsin.

Anybody else feel that these would have been fun to shoot?

Ray, no need to explain or defend. I share your enthusiasm for shooting sports (just check my site). Those are a couple of great pix! Wish I'd been there to shoot 'em, absolutely. No guilt whatsoever. I love the human form at sport ...
While my sports gear is all digi, this pic I did shoot with my M4 and 50/2.8:

Nice shots, guys. Good to know I'm not alone.
I discovered a love of sports photography by shooting my kid's games too (soccer, baseball, karate).
Mike, I've shot some sports with an RF, and while I liked shooting with the RF viewfinder, my 90 just didn't have the reach I needed (I was shooting soccer). I think that shooting v-ball would be fun. I could probably so that with an RF.
I was shooting soccer. My son starts basketball this week, for the first time, so I'll be shooting b-ball for the first time. Freenej, what's a good focal length (I'll be shooting digital)?
The last time I tried to shoot at my son's swim lessons, I was told to stop by the instructors (?). I like the angle on the one shot, Todd.
I've shot in the rain before, but a snowstorm would be a first for me.

Sounds good to me. Flickr's got a good sports photography group. It's pretty active, too, which can be both a good and a bad thing.

I used to love sports photography. Basketball was especially fun, as it was easy to try different things and see the results each week. I never shot digital though, always Neopan 400 pushed one stop.
The local PJ's always looked at me weird with my film gear, especially when I sat down on the sidelines with a M+35/2 with the goggles. I'm sure the guy with strobes up in the rafters got better shots, but I had a hell of a lot of fun.
The most offensive foul of all.
