Spot on Epson R-D1s !!!!!!

I brought it to a small fotoshop with a excellent specialist on RF. Now it is spot on, better then a lot of Leicas. The fruit of a sunflower, close up. Total shot and 100% crop with the Leica 2/50. Well adjusted the E-D1s is a really great camera.

I am right now printing A3 size pics with my Canon Pixma 9500.
It´s great fun and the result is very nice!

ISO 1600 no problemo! 😀

I picked up a refurb RD-1 in Feb. It was in brand new condition and all function were spot on. I was afraid that after reading all the horror stories there would be something wrong with it. I checked it out, all was good and have been very happy with it since that moment it came into my life.

Anyone try adjusting the RF themselves? My rd1 is off but I have been putting off opening it up for some time...

Adjusted the RF myself last week, and it went fine, and i have something close to butterfingers . . 😉 , anyway it´s not so hard if you read the instructions twice and then double check. you find the info under one of the sticky treads in this forum.
And luckily for my part It only required taking of the hot shoe on the camera, a small plier and of course a tripod.

Think it should be a manageable task, at least if the warranty is out.

So there's no spot on your R-D1s, then. It's just spot-on. Cool!

Your RF seems to be spot on - whith one lens, at one distance. Now do the same tests with all your lenses, each at close up, mid-distance and infinity, and then you'll know if your R-D1s is really spot-on... 😉

In any case, have fun and take care you don't knock and re-disalign your camera.

That is my problem Didier, my R-D1 is Spot-on with my Lux 75 at close up and infinity, however can see a slight effect of focus drift at mid-distance, and my Cron 35 front focuses a little bit, while my Nokton 50 backfocuses a little bit, since both the cron and nokton focusing are within the depth of field, I decided to leave everything as it is.

It looks like lenses don't all focus exactly the same way, but more likely they focus the same way within a set tolerance, and with very fast apertures the effects of such tolerance can be seen.

I have not tested all my lenses, but the few I did gave me similar results. So what... I think every single rangefinder body and every single coupled rangefinder lens can have it's own focusing (in)tolerances, even inside the same make and model. We just didn't know it until we got digital bodies to test it! But I know from a former professional Leica shooter that he used to sent all his M lenses and M bodies together to one, here well known, rangefinder repair expert who adjusted everything together at a time.
