I've got the square hood for my 21mm f4 skopar lens and was wondering if there's anyone who knows anyone who could cut a vent in the top left corner so it would be see-trough from the viewfinder on an M. I've seen that a few of the zm lenses have hoods like this.

I take you aren't using the external viewfinder then? I don't find it too obtrusive as is. Even for critical focus check (not that you have to be too critical with this, given the depth of field).

sounds like one of the 2001 uses for a dremel tool.

nah i'm just using the 28 lines on an M6. I'm not very good with power tools

I myself prefer the small round hood that came with the lens. Actually, the LH-1 hood was given free of charge at the purchase. I did not use it since it blocks one quarter of the view!!! And I never like any hood that consumes a lot of space in my camera bag. Bad design it is.
