Have just got my 1st film back from my Canon VT deluxe + 50 1.8 lens - colour neg 200 asa. What a joy - very sharp and lovely muted colours. Both are users so some flare from backlit shots. Broke the bank to get these as users so can't get them serviced just now
Still can't believe the results - keep up the good work - look forward to hearing from you - thanks.

Great work - that's a lovely lens isn't it. I use one of the round Canon series 6 hoods (it also acts as an adapter to hold series 6 filters) with my 50/1.8 - there are some pics of it in this thread http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9531&page=4&pp=20&highlight=series.
These come up occasionally on ebay - I got mine for about $30. Good luck with it!

That's way too much to offer for the square hood.
Well the square hood for the 50/1.8 is pretty rare. Look for the one for the 50/1.9, it is a little bigger I think, but works just as well.

The 50/1.9 one is a little smaller than the 50/1.8 one. I expect both work fine on the 50/1.8, but I only have the 50/1.8 one. (I know the size of the 50/1.9 one from trying to stuff the 50/1.8 hood into the case for a 50/1.9 one. No way.)
There are lots of engraving variants on the rectangular 50/1.8 hood, I've now seen two others besides the one I have. They cause collector lust, of course...
