Hi all.

I have some T-Max 400 here, I shot it at 800. I want to re-test stand dev after the negs I got from the Neopan were so incredible. However, I can't find a time. Shall I go 1:100 for 2 hours again at 20 degrees C?

Dear A.,

Stand development and pushing are fundamentally incompatible. Increased agitation gives more true ISO speed; less gives less. Increasing time, with reduced agitation, therefore gives more contrast for a given speed, or less speed for a given contrast.

Kodak's T-grain films are especially sensitive to overdevelopent, so you are inviting big grain as well.

Of course, this is basic theory -- which doesn't always stack up against what you want/like.

Larky, I'm not sure what you are talking about, but I will assume it is Rodinal like last time. I recently did semi-stand-development with Tmax100 in Rodinal 1+100; one hour, 30 seconds initial agitation then 3 inversions for five minutes and 3 inversions at 20 minutes and 40 minutes. It was overdeveloped, LeicaM3 suggested that I use 3 slow inversions at the beginning and the 3 inversions after 30 minutes.

Also, this woman uses one hour, and even though she doesn't give agitation one this image she does on her Tmax100 images and they are like what I did. I found them over developed.

Sorry, I'm a bit out of it so my post made no sense!

I have some TMax 400, shot at 800, and want to dev in Rodinal. I'd like to stand dev, but I'm not really fussed. Any suggestions on dev times?

Update: They are hanging to dry now, nowhere near as nice as those 1600 Neopan shots! Conclcusion: TMax 400 is not as nice as Neopan 1600 if stand developed with Rodinal, 1:100 at 20 degrees C. BUT, if you are in a stight spot, it will work.
