Just been looking at my copy of a good book :- 'LEICA witness to a century' - by Alessandro Pasi, it carries a picture of the late Yul Brynner, relaxing between filming, and taking candid shots with his M3, apparently he was a keen snapper. A few weeks ago, in another book I was browsing, were some pictures of Sammy Davis Jnr. doing the same, but with his Rollieflex, I wonder how many other stars of stage and screen were also keen photogs?, and what they used?, just for a bit of fun - can anyone add to my list?

Dunno what kind of gear he uses, but former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman is an avid shooter. I've seen some of his work on line and it ain't bad.

Saw Ron Jeromy stalking Sydney with and M8, Bob Crane was a keen Nikon guy also.

Stanley Kubrick. There is one of his photos from Look magazine in the 12th edition of the Leica Manual, and a recent large format book of his photos - forget the title. The Queen's M3 in ever-ready case, a little battle scarred, apparently used to cause regular security scares with new staff finding this suspect heavy object amongst her baggage. I have somewhere a photo of her using it, and the caption in Punch magazine (must have been 1976) was "She is taking it for her forthcoming book, 'One's Jubilee'."

Yul Brynner: Photographer? Yes, the virile, shiny-pated actor, most famous for starring in The King and I and The Ten Commandments, secretly stockpiled boxes of his photos in the household attic. After his death in 1985, they were discovered by his daughter Victoria (who credits Dad with her own career in the shutterbug biz) and became this rather lovingly under-edited compilation. At its best: Liz Taylor and her daughter in a swimming pool; a near-naked gleaming Charlton Heston bending over a squeamish-looking Cecil B. DeMille; an aged Charlie Chaplin. Less interesting: remainderish family portraits, anonymous starlets, and bullfighters, which should have been ruthlessly culled.
