Whatever
Hello -- I'm wondering if anyone out there can explain why I'm seeing this lens at high prices (as in $ 400.00+). It's a Steinheil 35mm f/4.5 Orthostigmat lens in LTM, and I think I paid about $ 50.00 for it many years ago. I think the lens is from about 1950.
I'll try to post a photo of it if that helps....thanks!

Here are the pricing realities of LTM lenses:
1) FSU and common: small money
2) Most everything else: big money except for 135mm focal length.

From what I recall of using this lens, decades ago, the price doesn't reflect the image quality. My suspicion is that sellers are saying. "It's German, so it must be good, and it's old and rare..."
Well, it's German, old and moderately rare...
Cheers,
R.

When they were produced, Steinheil lenses were a good bit less expensive than Leitz ones. The Culminar 85/2.8 I bought a few years ago didn't cost too much.
