I just bought a nice G2 in good shape with the 35 and 90mm lenses, hoods, TLA200 and 140 at a nice price, I think. :)
Only thing is that the rubber on the back is a bit sticky. The front rubber is just fine though. I tried wiping it off with a damp cloth but it just got stickier and "hairy". It's not a big issue, but a bit nasty. Is this rubber rot? Any way to get rid of it?

I have the same issue with a Praktica SLR & Sigma zoom that I got for cheap from *bay ... the rubber grip around the lens mount was all sticky and no amount of cleaning seemed to improve it. Let me know if you find anything that works. :)

It seems that there is a thin layer of soft rubber on top of a harder plastic. It has come off on the edges a bit. I might rub it off completely. I guess it would be more smooth that way.

It's more likely to be caused by cosmetics, sunscreen or insect repellant. They all play havoc with those kinds of plastics. My Nikon N90s and F100 cameras all have the plastic coating missing from a patch approximately the same size as my nose from sunscreen contact.
