Stiff power switch on Ikon

Hi all,
My Ikon has developed a very stiff power switch, the only thing that I think has happened to it is get a splash of sea water, I don't know if the water hit the switch, it was a tiny splash, but it's the only thing I can think of.

So I need to get it looked at, I see an email address floating around this forum of a guy at Zeiss who is very helpful with these things, can anyone post that here?

I would get a check-up by a techician; salt water is very aggressive and if you have salt in the finer parts of the camera, the camera may develop i problem some time down the line (it sounds like you do, bc this could cause the stiffness - or it could be completely unrelated...).

Thanks guys, I contacted Richard, he says turnaround time is 6-8 weeks for repair, which is a little long for me, any one know of a good repair guy in the UK?

I don't know for sure it's salt water causing the stiffness, but I'm pretty sure it happened a day or so after it got splashed. It was a very small amount of water, which I thought only got the front of the lens, but maybe not.

I contacted Robert White, and they would send it off to Zeiss, I've used The Classic Camera before, and they were OK, but a bit slow, maybe I'll ask Red Dot Cameras, but I think they only do Leica.

I was recommended the following people in Bristol for hasselblad but I haven't used them yet. Zeiss Ikons aren't that common so finding someone with experience will be tricky and they would have to replace any corroded parts from Zeiss Germany anyway. It might be in your best interests long term to just send to Zeiss direct who will give you a free quote except for postage. But if you want a UK repair then ask the following.

Thanks everyone, so far The Classic Camera has my vote, but I'll mail Zeiss and see what they recommend.

Maybe it's time to get a second body...
