-Yes, increasingly so. I was a bit hesitant with the low light focusing but I got used to it… the wonderful image quality supersedes any nitpicking. Recently took it to a 10 day Canada excursion and a 14 day Europe trip. I couldn't be happier because the files are sharp, easy to adjust and the colors are constantly on the same palate.
-Never used it.
-LCD is great, one of the nicest I've used.
-High ISO has exceeded my expectations.

It's been a while now .. Ricoh owners..
- Are u still happy w/ your purchase?
- How is the 35 crop mode?
- How has the LCD been in bright afternoon light?
- Have u been happy w/ the high iso performance?
Thanks

Maybe he can't find one??? Been waiting for them to come back in stock at amazon for close to a month now:bang:.
Popflash seems to have it now. That's where I got mine.

Awesome on all accounts. I occasionally stick a 28mm viewfinder on it but did more of that in the beginning.
I wish it had digitally zooming, stabilized video and then I could get rid of everything else.

I have GR. Not sure if I like it better than the RX100 ... I was thinking of the RX100 ii now ... RX100 is better output than GRD IV I tried, so was hoping the GR would be a lot better than the RX100.
Forgot to mention... I appreciate this input. I am keeping my rx100 around just in case..

Just funnin' wit ya Gary.
There have been some interesting reviews comparing these two cameras. When I first saw the Nikon, I pulled a Phil Rizzuto and shouted, "Holy cow!" Ricohs have always been my favorite small camera, having owned 3 various models. This little GR is perfect for me. Fantastic AF. I believe better then the Nikon, which might have better out of the camera jpegs.

- How is the 35 crop mode?
Sorry if I jump into a thread which is heading to a completely different direction but, may I ask what is the point of "crop modes" these days? In the old days of cameras such as the Nikon D2x or D2xs the crop mode offered an higher frame rate and so one might have gone for "fast and lower quality is better than no photo at all" while shooting sport or something of that sort but nowadays that memory is very cheap and with cameras which are not made for super fast action I don't get the point, if one need to crop can always crop in front of a computer later. Even the Nikon D7000/D7100 have it, not to mention the Pentax cameras which can shot (erh actually crop) squares or panoramic pictures. Am I missing something?

I'm super happy with mine. I like everything about it except the slow af in low light, but it's not a huge deal. They'll probably fix that anyway.
I just wanted to mention about the crop mode, I think it can come in handy. It's still shooting at 10mp and one day I was shooting my x100 and gr at a protest. My x100 died, but no fear, the gr is here! It helped me get a few shots that were better at 35mm focal length and they looked just as good.
You won't regret it.

I do a lot of post cropping to final look.. But having 35 crop is more about already seeing the final look w/o pre-visualizing or using a 35mm external ovf on your 28mm fixed focal length more than anything else.
On some cameras other than the Sony, it is doing more than just built in crop. For example on the rx1, the is a 50 crop mode w/ option to do intelligent crop. This is Sony's way of cropping and then filling in missing pixel data so u still have close to original file size. Probably similar to photoshop bicubic uprez type technics for all I know.
But for.. Really mainly as a framing aid.

I also sold my RX100 for the GR which I preferred over the RX100. It really is the logical evolution of the GRD series (having previously owned a GRD3). The RX100 always felt like a compact - a little clumsy to use, like there was too much packed into it - while the GR felt like a fully functional camera (with a fixed 28mm) that just so happened to fit in my pocket.
I was however using the GR as my only camera and in the end the fixed 28mm and lack of VF meant that for me it didn't really work as my sole shooting option (though image quality, sharpness and usability were all top notch). I think it would have been perfect as a second or third more portable camera for me.
Sold it and bought a Nikon V1 and haven't looked back. Just thought I'd add a slightly different perspective to those above![]()
Appreciate your point of reference... Negative comments or issues were what I was interested in as well.
Thanks
Gary
