Just thought i would let any one out there avoid buying a stolen camera and lens that i had stolen a month ago. Just replaced most of the items but i thought i would put the serial numbers up here so if they come up in any Auction sites or shops in or around Cardiff that all those Rangefinder lovers would help me reclaim my property back.
I had a Voigtlander Bessa R3A & Nokton Lens stolen from my house (along with quite a few other items £1500) but the Rangerfinder is the thing that F***** Me off the most loseing.
The Serial Numbers are 0000193 for the camera and 9750852 for the Nokton Lens.
I live in Cardiff so anywhere around the southwest of england if anyone see's a Bessa R3A for sale in any shops please can you Email me.
The Insurance company refused to pay out as there was no forced entry due to a former tenant returning or selling the key on to someone else.
All items where bought from Robert White last year and as i am a student studying Photography it has hurt me in the pocket to replace these items.
Many Thanks for taking the time to read this and for looking out for the camera if you do see it .

I'd hit your landlord with the bill if he's sloppy with keys....

As a landlord I always advise my incoming tenants to replace at least one of the locks and provide with copies of the keys for emergency access. Supplying such keys to me is a requirement of the lease - and a tenant is liable for my expense if I have to "break" a lock to gain reasonable access during his/her tenancy.

Also, please note that a landlord cannot control to whom a prior tenant may have distributed keys to and cannot be held liable in the manner you suggest.

Thanks Mike & Copake_ham
For your thoughts a lot of thought has gone into if and who had keys and if the door was locked when exiting but at at the end of the day it is all May be's and i also live with 3 other people so i do not who if what happened and apart from that all i know is i had my equipment stolen. Needless to say i have learned my lesson and my equipment is by my side every where i go which is where it should be.
I am not one for trying to blame my landlord or hitting any one but just trying to learn a hard lesson and making sure it does not happen again and moving on.
All i do know is that i have some good luck coming my way soon as i must of just had quite a few years worth of bad luck handed out to me.
Cheers again Dave J

I'd advise you to check eBay too from time to time.

Bad luck indeed. 🙁 That is my worst nightmare too. Forget about the money, there are some cameras that money cannot replace.

Will keep an eye open for your R3A here in London. 🙂

Sorry for your loss and hope you get a stroke of luck.

But I bet your insurance didn't tell you there are new technics where you won't see any traces at or in the lock except with a special microscope. All that is needed is a special key, a hammer and some seconds of time. Ask an expert at your police station and when he tells you the same get it in writing and show this to your insurance company. It's up to them to prove it didn't happen this way.

Greetings
John
