Strange Blur

First time shooting with a Zorki 4k and Industr N-61L/D 53mm lens. Got the scanned negatives back today and in some of the frames, the right side is blurred (just like motion/subject blur) while the left is tack sharp. I wrote down the shutter speeds when I took these photos which are 250 and 500. Has anyone else experienced this before and know what it could be? The thin line at the top might be due to a scanning error, check the negs to see if they are full-frame. If the negs look good it is scanning, if they show the same fault it's the film transport or possibly an incorrectly fitted baffle at the bottom of the film gate. Blurring to one side of the frame could be a lens fault or a wonky mount on the body. You need another lens on this body or this lens on another body to confirm which it the culprit. Is the focussing smooth on the Industar? If so, it's been re-lubed because the original grease would most certainly be gummed up by now. If it's been re-lubed, someone's had it apart and if the optics module was also dismantled, an element may have been refitted incorrectly. My best guesses on both problems, there could be other reasons!

First thing to check here is whether the film pressure plate is loose - the ones in the Zorki's are a little fiddly and can come loose easily - they are attached with sort of flexible metal clips....

Hi there and thanks. The thin line doesn't show up on the negs so it was due to scanning error like you said. I CLAed the Industar a few days ago and focusing is smooth. I didn't touch the optics, just relubed.

The film pressure plate seems to be held tight, but I don't know if it's at the proper distance or not. How do I check for this and adjust accordingly? Anyone has any website links and tips ? Thank you.

Good call on the pressure plate, I hadn't thought to mention that one. It doesn't have a "correct distance", it should be spring-loaded so it sits against the outer film rails when the back is fitted. As long as the spring action is good, there's not much that go wrong, although I've seen it where one end or other is stuck because the spring ends were caught tight under the rivets. Both ends must be free to "float".
